They laughed at the breaking of the world
As hordes of darkness and riders of decay
Clung to the symbols of glory and well-fortune
And the mongerers of tales told of
How the fields of good and green,
Turned grey and perished in flame
The sight of which now only holds a frame

Or a poetic so artistically forth and henced
For a world this wretched, as so rightfully cleansed

Fie, for what fate is that
To know the sweet savor of deliverance
To know the warmth of a lover’s embrace
To belie what have thee of bliss and
Forswear
what thou hath in grace

Leave off, my lord, then
The quill that bespeaks
of hatred and pain
Forlorn art flowers of youth, the blossoms of life
Their fall a sudden death, the keen edge of a knife

Ere the break of day, the red sun in the Western sky
is but a quivering mirage, a cascade of perfidious light
For that which heralds the coming of twilight
is not oft a guardian of the night

To gallows herd the silent watchers of doom, now
Where heroes would’ve contested fate, but nay, now
For the corpses that spoil the sight of parapets
The guttural sight that nary a soul could forget
The outcome of our folly, and the price we paid

Soliloquies that in the darkest hour of night, fade
For free reigns twilight’s cruel decree, a cursed blight
No heroes there drawing breath to ward off the blackened night

And so they laughed, at the breaking of their world
The hordes of darkness and the riders of decay
an occasion of tyrants at the edge of time

Their voice a decadence, their gaze a perversion
Bearing witness to the desolation of ages
A conclave of madmen and would-be sages

Fie, for what fate is this
To know the portents of a world that will never be
To know the weave of a tapestry before its time
To forego what have thee in faith and
Count the universe’s final breath, its last chime

Pray thee, my lord, leave off
The quill that bespeaks of life and beauty
The wind that erst reminded the fern to move
For all that is fair and all that is good

Pray thee, my lord, leave off
avaunt and to morrow anon
A road yonder, and a land far-off
